Our partnership with the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid keeps growing! Recently, we’ve signed an agreement that will allow us to expand our volunteer program at this great center. Every Wednesday morning, Aladina volunteers are there to make sure that the children, their parents, and their family members get a break from medicine and treatments.
In 2015 we also opened a new Lactation Room at the Maternity and Children’s Building at the 12 de Octubre. We want to be able to make things easier for the many mothers who come to the center every day but couldn’t find a suitable place to breastfeed their babies. We’ve put all our energy into creating a welcoming space with comfortable chairs, bathrooms, and changing facilities.
This intervention adds to the Mother’s Milk Bank Aladina-MGU, which we inaugurated in June 2014. The bank supplies milk to the 12 de Octubre, along with the Hospital de la Paz, Puerta de Hierro, y Severo Ochoa de Leganés. The goal is to be able to cover all the hospitals in the Madrid area with neonatal units. If you want to know more about this project, click HERE.
