Andrea is a little princess, just 1 year old, who has had to face AML, or acute myeloid leukemia.
Ever since they discovered her illness, our heroine of the month has shown just how brave she is. Her incredible, sweet smile never goes away. Now, this little cutie’s parents wanted to share the story of their Aladina with all of us:
“Hi, we’re Cristina and Salva, Andrea’s mom and dad.
When she had just turned 16 months old, they discovered AML in our little girl. Now, as she’s about to turn 20 months old after three cycles of chemo and lots of tough times, Andrea has received a bone marrow transplant from an anonymous donor who donated stem cells for her.
Thanks to noticing an unusual bump, two good friends, and an excellent pediatrician, we came to the Hospital Niño Jesús, where they put a name to her illness – and where they’re curing it.
Now, we have to wait for the transplant to work so we can go home to keep enjoying Andrea, her personality, her smile, her three words, and the bright future she has ahead of her.”
Little Andrea, we’re sure you’re going to win your battle. You’ve got a fantastic family and from all of us at Aladina we’re sending you a huge hug.
And to you, Cristina and Salva, thank you so much for sharing your experience so that other children and parents in this difficult situation feel less alone.
