This month we’re going to introduce you to Jaime, a little superhero who’s been fighting Ewing’s Sarcoma. This super Aladino, who’s 6 years old, had to leave his hometown of Albacete to come to Madrid to start his fight against cancer. He’s a big inspiration!
Jaime is a very, very brave kid, and he wanted to share his story with us:
“Hello, my name is Jaime. I’m 6 years old and from Albacete. One day, overnight, my life changed and my mom, my sister Manuela and I packed our bags and came to live in Madrid. I had to leave my school, my friends, and my dad.
While they were giving me medicine I lived in a house with some really fun cousins and uncles that treated us like part of their family. With my cousins, I played soccer and went swimming. Everything was easier with them. When I didn’t want to eat or didn’t like anything, they made me laugh and did silly things that helped me eat just a little.
My dad came to see me and my sister Manuela and my mom every weekend and we did family stuff around Madrid, which helped me not think about going back to the hospital on Mondays.
When I was on the hospital, I played with all the kids, and when my friends from the Fundación Aladina came they made sure I didn’t throw up and helped me forget they were giving me medicine. Now, I’ve finished my treatment and I just have to go to routine screenings.
I want say thanks, like my parents always say to me, to the doctors, to all the nurses, who have been really nice to me, and to my teacher Mamen, who helped motivate me every day and make me feel like any other kid.”
You’re a real superhero, Jaime! From all of us at Aladina, we’re sending you a big hug.
