“Hello! My name is Rubén, and I am 9 years old. At the end of May, I was diagnosed with leukemia, and both my family and I were very scared and sad. But soon, that passed! We adapted to this new life thanks to the aides, nurses, doctors, cleaners… And let’s not forget my ‘Aladinas,’ Elena, my dear and fun trainer, and Sara, my psycho-oncologist, who has helped me so much to be happy despite being in the hospital! After being hospitalized for 5 months, I had a bone marrow transplant—my mom was the donor! In less than 3 weeks, I was able to leave the hospital—they told me it was a record for how quickly my defenses recovered! During those days, my dad, my mom, and I had so much fun: we celebrated Halloween, decorated the room, and played with balloons and the ball—a party! Thank you so much to everyone who supported and helped me—I love you all very much!”
