Spanish children are preparing for Summer and getting ready to head to camp, and our Aladina warriors are no different! 140 children with cancer from all over Spain are packing their bags to travel to Barretstown (Ireland) and Dynamo (Italy). Every week a different group of kids will pack their bags to attend one of these two camps! These two camps are a part of the Serious Fun Children´s Network, founded by Paul Newman, and an organization we are happy to work so closely with. This trip is also 100% free for all of our Aladina fighters!
The first group has already departed from Adolfo Súarez Airport in Madrid. The group of 15 boys and girls (age 13 to 16) are excited for the trip and we know they will all become great friends. Our president, Paco Arango, went to send off the first group from the airport on June 16th. There were many nerves but a lot of laughter!
Paco said, “You´re going to have an incredible week, you have to make the most of every minute of this wonderful trip!” All the proceeds from his second film, “The Healer”, will allow even more children to travel to one of these camps. The goal is to have 1,000 children, 200 each summer, to travel to these camps within the next five years starting in Summer 2018.
Paul Newman’s camps, which are for children with serious illnesses, are an unforgettable and unique experience. The children participate in all kinds of activities (archery, rock climbing, canoeing, horseback riding, etc.) but above all they will get to live and meet other children just like them. The opportunity to share with other kids who completely understand what they are going through is one of the best parts of the trip!
