We inaugurated the For Life Unit, a new hospitalisation area for palliative care at the Hospital Niño Jesús, in Madrid and we can’t be happier!
The For Life Unit, as Aladina has named it, has officially opened its doors with Community of Madrid’s President Isabel Díaz Ayuso as godmother. This space is a Spanish public health pioneer. It offers five individual rooms, day hospital, parent rooms, medical offices and a beautiful garden for anyone to enjoy.
Aladina has contributed to this project with 600,000€ of the 750.000€, total budgeted. It is expected to assist at least 150 minors every year.
The unit will also have two Time-off and chill rooms, for families to enjoy.
This whole space is a serene haven, full of light and with direct access to the terrace and new garden, for children and families to stretch life a bit one day at a time.
Why not see it first hand, through the eyes of our president, Paco Arango?
The garden at the For Life Unit
This new area for paediatric palliative care at Hospital del Niño Jesús in Madrid, has a beautiful garden to which children and teens have direct access from their rooms. Parents may rest while watching their kids enjoy fresh air, in contact with nature and plenty of sunlight.
This beautiful garden is already its own small world at the hospital, and can be enjoyed by patients according to their personal circumstances. With a view to all play areas, and adapted accessibility, hospitalised children can access from their beds or wheelchairs. Children that come to the hospital for walk in treatment may also enjoy the garden.
This garden is an oasis of peace, a safe heaven for families and hospitalised children and teens. It is an outdoor natural space where sick children do, what children do: play and rest whilst families enjoy a sense of community.
