Our president is hard at work on a new big project – his third movie, “Los Rodríguez y el Más Allá”, which in English translates to “The Rodriguezes and the Great Beyond”. Like his previous movies, part of the proceeds from the movie will go towards Aladina’s programs to help children with cancer.
Filming on the project started on July 2, and brought together a fantastic cast of actors. It stars Edu Soto, along with Mexican actress Mariana Treviño, Geraldine Chaplin, Sara Jiménez and the kid actors Rodrigo Simón Prida, Lucas Laso and María Blanco (who was also a finalist on Masterchef Junior).
The rest of the cast for the family fun movie includes Santiago Segura, Rossy de Palma, Antonio Velázquez, Macarena Gómez, Enrique Villén, Tomás Pozzi, Richard Collins-Moore, Aron Piper, Óscar Casas and Mexican movie and TV star Omar Chaparro.
Paco gave himself a challenge for this movie: “Combine a typical Spanish family’s everyday life and funny moments with the surrealism of an imaginary world.”
The Rodriguez family is just like any other family – or at least, that’s what they thought. It allo changes when they find out late grandfather was actually from another planet. Even crazier, he left a cosmic door that lets you travel to another world in the family’s storage room – which one day, grandson Nicolás opens up without meaning to. That’s when all the chaos starts, and the family starts getting visitors from alien lifeforms that they can’t control.
Kids always play a big part in Paco’s movies. The proceeds from his movie “Maktub” went towards creating the Maktub Center for bone marrow transplants at the Hospital Niño Jesús in Madrid. “Lo Que De Verdad Importa” (“The Healer” in English), was the first movie to donate 100% of its proceeds to charity. It’s helped 1,000 Spanish children with cancer enjoy a magical week of vacations over the next 5 years at the Serious Fun Children’s Network summer camps, which were founded by Paul Newman.
