The players of Real Madrid and Atlético kicked off our campaign in favor of the renovation for the ICU in the Hospital Niño Jesús in Madrid. Before the start of the game, the players all held a banner with the campaign slogan on it “Un Achuchón por la UCI infantile del Niño Jesús”, which will fill the city with hugs in support of the project.
The directors of both teams have committed with Fundación Aladina to support the project, which will cost 1,300,000€. The project will bring the best technology to the ICU, which serves all of Madrid´s severely ill children, and will also transform it into a more welcoming and bright space.
These two amazing teams are the first to join in on the ACHUCHON movement. Aladina aims to bring this movement to all citizens of Madrid, all kinds of neighborhoods, professions, backgrounds and ethnicities and even on social media. Once again, the people of Madrid have a chance to show their capacity to come together for a great cause.
“We want to make the ICU a space where the children have the will to get better. We are already at work”, assures Aladina´s president Paco Arango. Right now, the kids can´t tell if it´s day or night because there is no natural light. This effects the children fighting cancer the most, as they are the ones that spend the most time in the ICU, sometimes more than a month at a time. The ICU at Hospital Niño Jesús admits more than 800 severely ill children every year.
