Back to school is a special time for all kids, but especially for our Aladinos! This September, we’re in full-on celebration mode because not one but two of our little superheroes are going back to school with their friends – Tifenn and Telma!
Tifenn is 9 years old and has been fighting leukemia. Luckily, she’s going back to school alongside her twin sister this fall! This past year, Tifenn couldn’t attend. She tried for the month of May, but was forced to leave because of the side effects of chemotherapy.
This little fighter is the face of the Fundación Aladina’s campaign for schools: “1 drawing = 1 smile”. The goal is to help schools teach their children about the reality that children and teens with cancer live with.
Telma is 7 years old and has rhabdomyosarcoma. She’s starting second grade. Her classmates are looking forward to seeing her after 3 school years without seeing her. This little fighter has faced a really long, tough road. Telma couldn’t go to school for the first two years of preschool, nor for first grade. School is a bit of a strange thing for her!
This Aladina is one of a kind. She says she’s not sure how she’ll deal with the rules, discipline, and, most of all, having to be quiet during class! We know she’ll be able to do it, because she’s a real champ who’s shown us all how to be strong during tough times.
This past school year, 92 schools and educational institutions around Spain joined Aladina to raise €85,000, all of which went entirely towards reforming the children’s ICU at the Hospital Niño Jesús.
