This past February 15, International Childhood Cancer Day, the reporters from TVE wanted to learn firsthand about our Sports Scholarships for children and teenagers suffering from cancer.
28 kids from the Madrid Community have already benefitted from this program, which we started a year ago. The program includes two hours every week of specialized physical therapy for children with specific needs for rehabilitation or physical exercise. Our coordinator, Dr. Elena Santana, specialized in Physical Activity and Health, runs these courses in the Tándem Center.
Taking into account the great benefits that physical activity brings to children, we decided to expand our Physical Exercise Program, especially for those young ones who are no longer admitted in the hospital, but are still receiving their treatment from home. Our program ensures that they are able to continue physical therapy. That’s why we decided to create our sports scholarships, the only ones that exist in Spain.
In this video from TVE, Pablo and his mother, Ana Belén, tell us about the benefits of practicing sports with our trainer, Elena. She is a marvelous trainer who has helped so many children and teens recover.
Thanks to this super champion for teaching us his training!
