We’re thrilled to introduce our new sports scholarships for kids and teens with cancer in the Community of Madrid.
This project has been made possible thanks to the generous work of Disney, who has agreed to finance training for 25 kids and teens for their first year at the Tándem Gym, the center where our Doctor of Physical Activity and Health, Elena Santana, works.
This program, which we started outside of the hospital, is a big help for lots of our little superheroes. Physical exercise is vital for them, and it’s essential that they can still keep it up when they aren’t hospitalized but are still undergoing treatment. The kids and teens get 2 hours every week of special training, which includes activities like gym sessions or pilates classes. At the same time, their parents or caregivers can also get a couple hours to take a break. We want to help the kids stay in shape while also giving their parents a well-deserved bit of rest.
