Emotional Support

Emotional support and therapeutic play are essential to the wellbeing of the children and families we serve. At Aladina, we know that a cancer diagnosis doesn’t only affect the child it turns the whole family’s world upside down. That’s why our approach goes beyond the medical: we walk alongside patients and their loved ones every step of the way, from the first day of treatment to the last, and in every space in between.

We create activities that let kids be kids laughing, playing, and enjoying life because joy is a vital part of healing. Whether through therapeutic recreation inside hospital wards, the unconditional company of our therapy dogs, personalized sports sessions, or the magic of a summer camp far from clinical routines, everything we do is designed to ease the weight of illness and bring back something priceless: the feeling of normalcy. Because children deserve to feel like children, even in the hardest of times and families deserve to see them smile.

Therapeutic Recreation

Fun thatalso heals

At Aladina, we believe in the power of therapeutic play. Our hospital team, supported by our volunteers, fills hospitals with activities that brighten the day for children with cancer: games, music, crafts, and creative workshops. All these activities are also available online, with the aim of reaching more children and families across Spain.

Dog Therapy

AdventureCompanions

Aladina is a pioneer in providing this type of therapy to children with cancer. When our furry friends arrive at the hospital, the atmosphere changes instantly. They accompany children in games, activities, and calm moments, helping them communicate better, reduce anxiety, and disconnect from the illness. We also offer these sessions to children in palliative care, both at home and in hospital, adapting to each situation.

Physical Exercise

Sports asan ally

Aladina offers personalized sports sessions during hospital treatments that help children and teenagers with cancer improve their mood, reduce side effects, and regain strength. Whenever possible, these sessions take place in person right where the children are but we also offer online sessions to ensure no one misses out, regardless of their situation or location. Our Sports Scholarships also give patients and caregivers the opportunity to train and unwind at specialized centers beyond the hospital.

Camps

Holidaysthat heal

Every summer since 2006, Aladina has sent more than 200 Spanish children to two very special camps: Barretstown in Ireland and Dynamo Camp in Italy. Both are part of the Serious Fun Children’s Network an international network of camps founded by actor Paul Newman specifically for children living with serious illnesses. These camps offer children a chance to just be kids again: to laugh, play, and connect with others who understand what they are going through, all in a safe and medically supported environment. As their motto says: we take fun seriously.
