Last Saturday a plane landed in Valencia with 14 Ukrainian children and their families, to continue their cancer treatment in the Paediatric Oncology Units of the Valencian Community.
With the initial coordination of the Aladina Foundation and the collaboration of a group of child cancer organisations, the necessary medical and logistical arrangements were put in place, with the support of the Ministries of Health, Defence and Social Inclusion and Welfare.
Both ASPANION and AECC were in charge of the logistical management of their arrival, as well as their subsequent reception. The children were transferred to the 3 reference hospitals in the Valencian Community (Hospital La Fe and Hospital Clínico in Valencia and Hospital General Universitario Dr. Balmis in Alicante), where they have resumed treatment and where comprehensive care will be provided.
This initiative follows the successful reception of 25 oncological children in Madrid and 16 in Barcelona.
