Golf Garden

The 'Golf Garden' covers more than 800 square meters. All with one goal: to make hospitalized children feel like they're on a real golf course.

The "Golf Garden", located in one of the outdoor courtyards of Hospital Infantil Universitario Niño Jesús, with views of El Retiro Park, covers 800 square meters (40 meters long by 20 meters wide) and has four holes with different designs and slopes. Using materials of different textures, we've recreated lakes and bunkers so it feels like a real course.

The space is made entirely of artificial turf, so it requires minimal maintenance, and includes a 6-hole putting green where children can also practice real putting strokes. The design was created by Ramón Barrenechea, president of the Biscay Golf Federation, who passed away in August 2022, and the total investment was €60,000.

The idea came from Irish businessman J.P. McManus, Jon Rahm, and Ramón Barrenechea himself, thinking of the children hospitalized at the hospital.
