Aladina Home’, Africa’s first paediatric palliative care home, opens in Uganda

Aladina dona 100.000€ a niños con cáncer en Uganda

Thanks to the Aladina Foundation’s donation of 100,000 euros, the Bless a Child Foundation in Uganda has been able to build a palliative care home for children with cancer in the country, the first in Africa, the ‘Aladina Home’.

The ‘Aladina Home’ is a palliative care home for children with cancer that provides accommodation and psychosocial support for children in the terminal phase of the disease.

Over the past 13 years, BCF has provided care and support to more than 4,000 children suffering from cancer in Uganda. The diagnosis of the disease usually occurs late, which is why more than 50% of children do not overcome it and require palliative care.

At the “Aladina Home” they will have access to personalized attention as well as psychosocial support for children. In addition, they will be able to enjoy a comfortable room for a child and their caregiver, pain relievers, meals, ambulance services and 24-hour access to a palliative care nurse. The “Aladina Home” will also have a doctor on call to deal with emergencies.
