In partnership with the FERO Foundation, Aladina has launched its first dedicated pediatric cancer research grant. This €80,000 award will help advance the work of Dr. Pablo Menéndez in developing cutting-edge therapies to treat aggressive and metastatic childhood sarcomas.
We proudly awarded the 1st FERO – Aladina Grant for Pediatric Cancer Research to Dr. Pablo Menéndez May 27, 2025
Yesterday, we had the honor of attending the FERO Charity Gala, hosted by the FERO Foundation—a leading organization dedicated to advancing cancer research in Spain. At this prestigious event, the winning team of our inaugural joint research grant was announced: Dr. Pablo Menéndez from the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (Fundació Institut de Recerca Contra la Leucemia Josep Carreras).
This collaboration between Aladina and FERO represents our shared commitment to funding innovative pediatric cancer research that can translate into real hope for children and their families.
What is Dr. Menéndez’s project about?
Dr. Menéndez’s groundbreaking project focuses on developing an advanced therapy for treating resistant and metastatic childhood sarcomas, using enhanced CAR-T cells and state-of-the-art technology. These aggressive tumors currently lack effective immunotherapy options, making this research particularly urgent. We believe this work could be a game-changer in the fight against pediatric cancer.
“With this grant, we’ll be able to move toward a more effective, personalized treatment model for our young patients,” said Dr. Menéndez, confident that the project could pave the way for future clinical trials that will directly benefit children facing these challenging diagnoses.
Backing the talent behind the science
At Aladina, we’ve spent the last 20 years standing beside children with cancer and their families in hospitals across Spain. But we also know that supporting them goes beyond the hospital walls — it means investing in research as a key driver of progress in the fight against childhood cancer.
That’s why this grant represents far more than financial support. It’s a statement of belief — in the power of science, in the brilliance of our researchers, and in a future filled with new hope for the kids battling this disease.
