At Aladina, we have donated a paediatric rehabilitation robot, known as Lokomat®, to the National Hospital for Paraplegics in Toledo, to help children with spinal cord injuries walk.
The presentation was attended by our president Paco Arango, two-time world rally champion Carlos Sainz, the Director of Humanisation and Healthcare, Maite Marín, and the Director of the National Hospital for Paraplegics, Sagrario de la Azuela.
After thanking us for this wonderful initiative, Maite Marín reminded us that, “although spinal cord injuries are typically associated with traffic accidents, these injuries have multiple causes, and their oncological origin is becoming increasingly common.” This is good news, as the healing rate is rising, which prompts us to focus on the needs of children who overcome the illness. Therefore, our president Paco Arango announced Aladina’s next commitment, which will also include a future exoskeleton aimed at the rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries.
For his part, two-time world rally champion Carlos Sainz stated that this is a happy day and congratulated “the Aladina Foundation and its president for bringing this technologically advanced machine into the hands of children with spinal cord injuries,” while also praising the professionals at the National Hospital for Paraplegics for their remarkable work.
