Cine y Solidaridad

Cine and Solidarity
Since 2011, our president Paco Arango has combined his role leading Aladina with his work as a director, screenwriter, and film producer—an art that Paco has closely tied to the fight against childhood cancer and helping hundreds of sick children around the world. His three charitable films, MAKTUB (2011), THE HEALER (2017), and THE RODRÍGUEZ AND THE BEYOND (2019), have donated their proceeds to social causes and have improved the lives of thousands of children and adolescents.
In 2023, "My Other Jon" was released, a family comedy starring Carmen Maura, Olivia Molina, Carlos Santos, and Fernando Albizu, with the collaboration of Ana Obregón and Macarena Gómez. Since February 19, 2024, it is also available on Movistar+.

Lo Que De Verdad Importa
The first 100% charity, 100% positive film Paco Arango's second film hit theaters on February 17, 2017 and from that moment a great wave of solidarity swept through our country and, later, the rest of the world. In Spain, "What Really Matters" achieved 445,000 spectators and grossed 2.7 million euros at the box office. Most importantly, thanks to the proceeds, 1,000 children with cancer from all over Spain will spend an incredible week of vacation in the camps of the Serious Fun Children's Network, founded by Paul Newman, until 2022.
Millions of viewers outside Spain also shared this solidarity adventure with Paco: for the first time, a film allocated its proceeds to charitable causes. Several entities from Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Brazil, Panama, Peru, Chile, and Guatemala, among others, dedicated to helping children with cancer or other types of needs, were the beneficiaries of the collection in their respective countries. In total, 3.1 million solidarity viewers!
In June 2020 "What Really Matters" was ranked No. 1 on Netflix USA.

Maktub
"Maktub," his first film, was released in December 2011 and received three Goya Award nominations. It's a beautiful Christmas story for the whole family, starring Goya Toledo, Diego Peretti, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Enrique Villén, and a very young Arón Piper, among others.
Paco allocated 100% of the box office proceeds to Aladina and with it we carried out the comprehensive reform of the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit of the Niño Jesús Hospital, the Maktub Center, a pioneering unit in the field of bone marrow transplants that opened its doors in February 2013.
