“Rubén was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was just one year old, and due to the late diagnosis, we were told it was terminal. But in February 2022, after a 15-hour surgery, he managed to overcome it and stay with us. Today, he continues to fight daily in neurorehabilitation due to the brain damage caused by the cancer’s aftereffects. We have a lot of work ahead, but we will achieve it. Thanks to Aladina, he receives therapy with dogs once a week with Julieta at the Vithas del Consuelo Hospital in Valencia. We also go on excursions, participate in workshops, and do activities where we can join other families going through the same thing and share our struggle. Rubén has a sister who accompanies him in his battle, Ruth. She has also suffered a lot, living away from home for a long time and without us. Now, she enjoys every day with her brother’s company. Thanks to Aladina, Ruth receives great emotional support through activities they organize, like mini golf classes and online sports. Our family has a motto: no matter what happens, always move forward, always stay strong.”
